Resplendent 4ths • The majority of chords are built from the basic Major or Minor triad, with added notes providing more complex sounds. So without additional notes you have plain Major or Minor chords. The most common addition is the 7th (seventh note of the parent scale), perhaps followed by the 9th or 6th.
