Ladakh Expeditions For All in the Land of High Passes • In Northwestern India, mountains tower thousands of meters, forming one of the highest regions on Earth. These glaciers feed rivers whose names are nearly infamous in the whitewater world— the Indus, the Zanskar, the Tsarap Chu—and some that aren’t: The Shyok, the Nubra, the Dras. But instead of a destination reserved for the best of the best, Ladakh's welcoming paddling community, spectacular Class II-IV surrounded by lush valleys, craggy mountains, high-altitude cold deserts, and dense forests, offer the perfect introduction to big water expedition paddling.

KENNETH AND THE CLEARWATER The first full desent of BC's legendary Clearwater River • The Clearwater River is a Canadian national treasure. Crystal-clear water cuts hundreds of kilometers through the Wells Gray Provincial Wilderness of British Columbia, feeding first the Fraser, and then the Thompson. Upstream of Hobson Lake, it is all but inaccessible. Unless, of course, you know the right helicopter pilot. Downstream, exciting rapids and pristine waters feed a healthy rafting industry set among a stunning mountain landscape. In September 2024, Ben Stookesberry and Sandy MacEwan joined Clearwater legend Kenneth McKay, along with Pierce Huser and Jared Day, adding another chapter to Clearwater lore and becoming the first to paddle the river in (almost) its entirety.

LAND OF WATERFALLS MATO GROSSO / BRAZIL • Mato Grosso might just be paradise on Earth. A rich jungle landscape, crystal-clear rivers, and waterfall after waterfall to explore. David Sodomka, Adrian Mattern, and Matthias Weger joined locals Little John Araujo and Hilton Figueiredo for an impromptu trip that became the Brazilian Road trip of a lifetime.

Interview HEIDI WALSH • Heidi Walsh is making a name for herself in the best way. With a powerful and aggressive style, Heidi’s time on the water—and in, and off— has led to an impressive progression in just a few years, whether running waterfalls, competing in freestyle, hunting for big water and waves, or simply living life on the road, chasing the next adventure. Her positive attitude and cheeky grin are a welcome addition worldwide. It’s been a big year, and Heidi is just getting going.

ENJOY THE WHOLE PROCESS • In this column, Dane reflects on what keeps him stoked on kayaking and coming back for more.

NEXT GENERATION OF PNW LEGENDS: ELEANOR KNIGHT • Up and coming paddlers help keep our sport growing and evolving. In this column, World Class Academy Principal Capo Rettig interviews new, young talent to explore themes of the whitewater scene.

INTRODUCTION TO THE CARTWHEEL: YOUR FLATWATER TRAINING PLAN • In this column, Bartosz shares a ready-to-go workout you can take to the pool or use any flatwater to dial in your cartwheel and paddling fitness.
