Whatever got them here, hiking kayaks up and over the 3500-meter passes of the Tian Shan Mountains, it wouldn't help them now. Driven by a shared style, love for wild places, and a desire to experience rather than conquer a river, Tomass Mamies, Kristof Stursa, Nouria Newman, Luka Rebersak, and Michiel De Ruytter went to the Sary Jaz focused not on some of the world's most remote and challenging Class V, but on the hike out.

Tidal Power The Bitches of Wales • Off the coast of Pembrokeshire, Wales, lies a standing wave formed by a combination of tide, swell, wind, and pressure that has changed the shape of freestyle kayaking and kayak surfing forever. Home to the first freestyle rodeo in 1991, today, the Bitches has lost none of its magic or appeal. But fair warning:While surfing the Bitches is mainly epic, it has the potential to be an epic.

VAMOS A BOLIVIA! Exploring the Rivers of Carrasco National Park • Bolivia touches the borders of Peru, Chile, and Argentina, all Whitewater paradises. Hidden in plain sight, between mountain peaks and densely forested jungle, are a plethora of rivers and a growing rafting and kayaking scene. Last February, Fabian Alejandro Bonanno returned to the small town of Villa Tunari alongside Marinus Bauer, Philipp Michel, and David Sodomka in hopes of unlocking the Whitewater hidden inside the gentle valleys and deep canyons of the nearby Carrasco National Park and then, paddle as much as possible.
