ENVIRO

Stakeout Legacy PROGRESSION + FLOW • Spring in Eastern Canada has become synonymous with the hunt for new waves and the accompanying push for progress. Between the weather, levels, and timing, finding the perfect balance is always a gamble-never guaranteed. But when flows are prime, and all the pieces come together, magic can happen. Dane Jackson reflects on the lure of Stakeout and what is possible when flow and gradient combine.

Under The Greek Sun • GREEK WHITEWATER FROM SOUTH TO NORTH

NOTTINGHAM'S HOLME PIERREPONT WHITEWATER COURSE • For all its drizzle, kayaking in Great Britain means one of two things: being ready to rally when it rains or heading to the Whitewater course. Just outside Nottingham lies the Holme Pierrepont Whitewater Course, an unassuming concrete ditch that boasts some of the best freestyle features in the world. Despite its notoriously questionable water quality, HPP has become, if not a destination, a pillar of the British and global kayaking community.

THE FEATURES

Interview: ERIC JACKSON • Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, EJ is back with a new company, new boat designs, and a new lease on life. The road there has been anything but easy, but EJ is slowly but surely making his way back to the Whitewater world and doing his best to make it better for everyone along the way. Fresh off the world championships, EJ talks innovation and the price of going "all in" in pursuit of principles and a lifelong passion.

COBRA TALES • In this column, Aniol recounts one of the biggest mistakes in kayaking history: dropping into the Black Hole on Mexico's Jalacingo River.

FINDING FLOW • In the last installment of this series, Priscilla talks about a trip where, on an ordinary adventure, she pushed herself in new yet familiar ways.

NEW WAVE • Up and coming paddlers help keep our sport growing and evolving. In this column, World Class Academy Principal Capo Rettig interviews new, young talent to explore themes of the whitewater scene.

FREESTYLE, UNLOCKED • In this column, Bartosz shares the magic of freestyle. More than just learning tricks, developing freestyle skills will progress your kayaking by allowing you to feel more confident on the river and more comfortable and controlled in challenging situations.

FRIEND OF THE FEARLESS • The exploratory, expedition, and/or Class V mission deserves a heightened level of self-awareness and awareness for others. With nearly 150 first descents in 38 countries over the past 23 years, Ben offers his top ten recommendations for safe and effective downriver progress.

DOCTOR RIVER WHAT'S UP DOC? • In this column, Jessie follows her column on how to fuel for exercise by looking at what your body needs to maximize recovery after anaerobic exercise.

RIVER WARRIORS: MILIJKO "GIGO" BULAJI & THE TARA RIVER • River Warriors, a column...
