WORLD WHITEWATERNEWS • This ongoing column is a place to report on the current news, latest descents, expeditions, people and trends in the whitewater world. The world is indeed a big place but the river connects us all. This column attempts to keep us in touch throughout the world paddling community.

Patagonia Road Trip Kayaking Along the Carretera Austral • A year of staying local had Aniol Serrasolses fantasizing about a road trip, but not just any road trip: the Chilean classic, a road trip through Patagonia. And, after a season of paddling in Chile’s Araucania, it was finally time—and possible— to journey south. Aniol, Pedro Astorga, and Kilian Ivelic loaded up, PCR tests in hand, and traveled hundreds of kilometers on the Carretera Austral to hit the river, experiencing classics new and old and enjoying a return to the simpler side of life.

family kayaking in the DURANCE VALLEY • “Every day in the Durance begins not with hopeless despair, but with feverish anticipation,” writes Manu Arnu of the French region that has been, for nearly 40 years, his playground and second home. Arnu introduces us to the beauty and seemingly limitless potential of the Durance Valley, sharing his advice on making sense of the plethora of options and ensuring every member of the family can have their best holiday ever.

200% GREEN RIVER HIGH TIMES ON A SOUTHEAST STAPLE • The Green River Narrows has long been a staple in the whitewater world. This three-mile run in the heart of North Carolina's Blue Mountains is a training ground for many of the world's best and a proving ground for those looking to step up to grade V. A recent change in ownership and management on the nearby Lake Summit Dam means new flows are ushering in a new era on the Green, bringing this long-time classic back in the spotlight and providing a whole new challenge.

Interview: ANNA WAGNER • Anna Wagner is the epitome of a California girl. Blond hair, blue eyes, giant smile, and the first person to find the joy and humor while quietly crushing. The 28-year-old has been steadily working her way into the ranks of some of the best kayakers in the world, with descents on many of the West Coast USA’s iconic waterfalls, California’s High Sierra classics, and bucket-list international trips, all while balancing being a part-time professional, mentoring the next generation, renovating a house, and adopting a cat. But while “Wags” will tell you straight up that getting comfortable running class V isn’t always easy, she’ll also remind you that it’s all the more reason to do it.

AVA CHRISTENSEN I’D RATHER BE CREEKING • Up and coming paddlers help keep our sport growing and evolving. In this column, World Class Academy Principal Capo Rettig interviews new, young talent to explore themes of the whitewater scene.

FROM SPLITWHEEL TO TRICKY WOO • In this column, Bartosz shares the magic of freestyle. More than just learning tricks, developing freestyle skills will progress your kayaking by allowing you to feel more confident on the river and more comfortable and controlled in challenging situations.

HOW TO SAVE (ACCESS TO) A RIVER PART VI: PROACTIVE ACTION TO PRESERVE ACCESS IN THE COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE, U.S.A • In this column,...
