A NORTHERN REALM OF WHITEWATER High Water Nordland • It is no secret that the north of Norway provides endless whitewater, including now-classic multiday adventures. Recently, however, more kayakers are skipping the southern classics and heading straight north. This summer in Trofors, located at the confluence of the Austervefsna and the Svenningelva rivers, which join to form the Vefsna, high water gave birth to a nascent Norwegian Stakeout scene, where a wide range of surf waves and high-water sections prove that Nordland is well on its way to becoming a thriving kayaking hub.
